Michael Diamond, the Beastie Boys musician known as Mike D, announced a five-date United States run of shows. The brief East Coast tour will support his inaugural solo studio album, “Thank You,” which is scheduled for release on August 28. The upcoming concert sequence follows a recently completed, sold-out promotional tour across the United Kingdom and Europe earlier this month.
The headlining performances are scheduled to begin on August 30 at the Royale in Boston, coming just two days after his album debuts. Diamond will then transition to the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C., on September 1, followed by a September 3 appearance at The Orange Peel in Asheville, North Carolina. The tour continues at The Eastern in Atlanta on September 5, before concluding the regional run at the Knockdown Center in Queens, New York, on September 9. Following these five dates, Diamond is also slated to appear at the Portola Festival in San Francisco at the end of September.
Diamond will be accompanied on stage by his Mike D 5D backing ensemble. The touring band features a collaborative lineup that includes his sons, Skyler and Davis Diamond, alongside musicians Eddie Ruscha, Will Graefe, and Milo Ruscha. The collective’s live performances have drawn critical recognition during their initial European dates, with international publications describing the shows as “uproarious fun” and “gonzo brilliance.”
The upcoming live sets will center on material from “Thank You,” a 13-track collection of post-electronic rhythms and experimental arrangements. The artist has already previewed the forthcoming LP through three advance tracks: “Switch Up,” “What We Got,” and “True Colors.”
